With Miss Universe Philippines separating from Binibining Pilipinas in 2019, the first edition of Miss Universe Philippines, i.e. Miss Universe Philippines 2020, will be hosted soon at the Mall of Asia Arena, Bay City, Pasay, Metro Manila. Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

Christine Nicole Silvernale, at just 19 years of age, is all set to dazzle at the national competition. While her beauty knows no bounds, her intelligence is definitely her strong suit in the competition. Being a passionate beauty queen, Nicole wants to use her voice towards creating safe spaces for people through Mental Health Awareness.

Christine relocated to Manila in pursuit of her studies and she has realized how the hustle, bustle can affect the mental health of a person, especially during the pandemic time. “Living and handling things on my own often left me feeling alone. And it didn’t help in silencing the noise inside my head. But as I went ahead and continued dealing with the world around me, I realized that other people felt the same way. Furthermore, during a time like this when a pandemic has us confined in our homes, we may – possibly more than usual – find it hard to deal with our inner turmoil”, she quotes.

Christine has spent most of her time in quarantine focusing on her online classes at the University. “I looked for ways where I can help our brothers and sisters during this crisis, such as rendering myself useful in re-packing and distributing goods for Care for Every Juan, promoting food to table initiatives with the Lugud Balen charity organization, as well as donating what financial help I can spare for PAWSsion project. I truly believe that this isn’t a time to show indifference towards anyone, be they our fellow humans or our beloved strays”, she explains.

Christine has also vowed to be constantly updated with what’s going on around her through online forums so that she can make informed opinions and decisions. “Of course, I haven’t forgotten to tend to my own needs as well, nurturing my past love for art through painting, my head space through reading, and my body through exercising, to which I have gotten the whole household to join in on. These are the things that keep me busy, happy and healthy nowadays. I hope that hearing about this inspires you to be attuned with yourselves too”, she says. Christine has definitely shown immense potential to be a strong contender for national crown.
