Miss Universe Singapore 2016 Contestants Become Caregivers

11 Oct 2016 | Angelopedia

Beauty with a purpose is the trend, and the fifteen finalists of the biggest national beauty pageant of Singapore are going out of their way to prove it. The finalists believe that beauty is what is inside the heart, and with this belief they are trying to help the ones living on the Chin Swee Road in the country. The place is mostly occupied by the elderly.

Miss Universe Singapore 2016 Contestants Become Caregivers

The contestants took help of the local charity “Keeping Hope Alive” to invest some time for helping the old people with their chores as well as by offering them what they needed. Along with the contestants, there were forty more volunteers starting from the age of three. Some of the finalists were very impressed by this, such as Joeypink Lai, who wants to bring her children along for volunteer work, in the future.

The 19 year old arts student, Vanessa Tay, was very excited to give back to the community through these acts, though is wasn’t the first time that the gorgeous beauty finalist had indulged herself in charity. S. Sreeveena, one of the contestants had a rough time trying to interact as most of the people could not understand English, but she insisted that it is not about the language but about genuinely doing something for the community.

For Patricia Eng, who has never done volunteer work before, it was heart breaking to see families live in such small rooms. The residents thanked the finalists for helping them with items such as bananas, porridge, as well as mattresses. According to a financial consultant, Mrs Chua Gek San, and William Chan, a volunteer, the finalists were very enthusiastic to help and also gave out ideas for offering support to people like them. Aren’t we impressed?
