After Covid-19 took over across the globe in 2020 and the pageantry almost coming to a halt, 2022 saw the return of international pageants being held across the world with excitement and fervor. Miss Earth 2022, after hosting two virtual pageants, returned to Philippines. While Miss Universe 2022 and Miss World 2022, the two most loved and followed pageants are yet to be held, other international pageants were held with strong productions and grandeur. Miss International 2022 was also held after the absence of two years.
While we still wait for Miss Universe 2022 and Miss World 2022 productions which will be held early in 2023, here are the best International Beauty Pageant Productions of 2022 in our opinion –
Miss Supranational 2022
The grand coronation night of Miss Supranational 2022 was held tonight i.e., 15th July 2022 at Strzelecki Park Amphitheater in Nowy Sacz, Poland where Lalela Mswane of South Africa was crowned Miss Supranational 2022. The South African beauty Lalela Mswane has created history by being the first woman from her country to win the Miss Supranational title.
The pageant was held in Top 24 – Top 12 – Top 5 format and Continental Queens of Beauty were also announced. The pageant is based in Poland which gives it a flow of succession and uniformity. The contestants enjoyed their time in the country participating in various events and activities. At the finale stage as well, the contestants, presenters, judges and performers all played up to their respective roles. The production was exemplary as well with best lighting, no glitches and live streaming of the pageant being available as well. Miss Supranational organization succeeded in hosting yet another big-league pageant.
Miss Earth 2022
Miss Earth 2022, the 22nd edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on 29th November 2022 at Okada Manila in the Philippines where Mina Sue Choi of South Korea was crowned the new queen. She succeeds and was crowned by Miss Earth 2021 Destiny Wagner of Belize. Mina Sui Choi is the only South Korean winner to have won a major big-4 international pageant. The finale was held in the Top 20-Top 12-Top 8 format from which the elemental court and the winner was crowned.
With the pageant being held after 2 years on-site (2020 and 2021 editions were held virtually), the organization was surely under pressure to host the edition upholding the standards set since 2001 when Miss Earth was first held. As was thought, with the perfect venue of the Philippines, Miss Earth 2022 was held with timely interviews, events and activities. The contestants followed the schedule and the finale night was a grand event too with amazing lighting, decent sound production and no glitches. The hosts did a good job of accommodating all languages to serve the global audiences and ofcourse the Filipino audience made sure the contestants were applauded well and often.
Miss Global 2022
The Miss Global organization hosted the the coronation ceremony of Miss Global 2021 and Miss Global 2022 on 11th June 2022 in Bali, Indonesia. The Miss Global pageant, which canceled both of its 2020 and 2021 editions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, crowned both their 2021 and 2022 queens during the finals night. At the end of the event, Shane Quintana Tormes of Philippines was crowned as the new Miss Global 2022, while UAE’s Jessica Da Silva was named Miss Global 2021. Miss Global 2022 was a hectic edition with Shane becoming the first Filipino to win the international crown.
Miss Grand International 2022
Miss Grand International 2022 was the 10th-anniversary edition of the Miss Grand International pageant which was held on 25th October 2022 at Sentul International Convention Center in Bogor Regency of West Java province, Indonesia. The grand celebration saw the crowning of Isabella Menin of Brazil as the new queen.
Amidst a huge backdrop and well-lit stage, the sixty-eight contestants walked the stage at the start of the finale with Miss Grand International 2021. The pageant was held in the Top 20 – Top 10 – Top 5 format. The pageant was held in a format divided into 5 events – the welcome press conference, swimsuit/sportswear competition, national costume competition, preliminary competition and coronation night. Indonesia surely made sure that the contestants feel welcomed, all events were held on time and without glitches. All in all, the organization made sure no stone was left unturned to welcome a successful edition. While the pageant fanatics might believe it to be a bit of a ‘put on show’ sometimes, there is no body who can say that the organization hosts a successful edition every year.
Miss Intercontinental 2022
Miss Intercontinental 2022, the 50th edition of Miss Intercontinental, was held on 14th October 2022 at the Meraki Resort in Sharm el-Sheij, Egypt where Lê Nguyen Bao Ngoc of Vietnam was crowned the new winner. The 21-year-old Lê Nguyen Bao Ngoc created history by being the first woman from her country to be crowned Miss Intercontinental. The pageant was held in the Top 20 – Top 5 – Winner format. The finale was also a decent production held with a few glitches here and there. The costumes were excellent, lighting and sound arranged decently and the contestants gave outstanding performances. All in all, Miss Intercontinental 2022 was another successful edition held in 2022.
