Karla Victoria Aponte appointed as Miss Earth Puerto Rico 2017

Puerto Rico’s representative to Miss Earth 2017 has been announced and Karla Victoria Aponte has been appointed to represent Puerto Rico at Miss Earth 2017. For the first time in three years, Puerto Rico will be competing in the Miss Earth pageant. The reigning Miss Earth Katherine Espin will be travelling to San Juan on 7th August 2017 to crown the representative.

The coronation will be held on 9th August 2017, and throughout her stay, Katherine will be attending interviews and tour around whilst making various environmental visits. The newly crowned Miss Earth Puerto Rico Karla Victoria Aponte is 18 years old and is a resident of San Juan. She is a college student and also a member of the national soccer team.

Aponte is not new to the world of beauty pageants and was recently placed as the Top 10 finalists at Miss Universe Puerto Rico. Her environmental mission is to educate children on the importance of recycling. Aponte will travel to the Philippines to represent Puerto Rico among nearly 100 nations. The delegates will spend four weeks touring the islands and conducting ecological activities including visits to schools. The 17th annual Miss Earth pageant will take place on November 4 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.

The Miss Earth Puerto Rico 2017 coronation ceremony and press conference will take place at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9 at the La Concha Renaissance Hotel in Condado, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Also in attendance will be reigning Miss Earth Air 2016 Michelle Gomez of Colombia, Miss Earth Water 2015 Brittany Ann Payne of the United States, and the newly crowned Miss Earth United States 2017.
