Recently, Green-man Matthias Gelber invited Miss Earth 2016 titleholder Katherine Espin and Miss Philippines Earth 2016 Loren Mar Artajos to share their environmental advocacy and help inspire young people to adopt greener ways of living. Gelber later shared his gratitude by posting on the social media pageant of Miss Earth, “I am always happy when I can give an eco talk that hopefully inspires people to go green but I was even more happy today which the great support from Miss Earth 2016 Katherine Espin and Miss Earth Philippines 2016 Loren Mar Artajos who shared their green advocacy for eco youth education and renewable energy for the Philippines - More Power to all the Miss Earth 2016 beauties who are doing amazing eco work all over the world!”
Gelber is a German environmentalist who encourages people to live a green life, thus reducing carbon footprints. He was one of the jury members at the Miss Earth 2016 beauty pageant finale, last year on 29 October 2016, when Angelia Ong passed on her crown at the the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, Metro Manila, in the Philippines. Katherine is again in the country to fulfil her duties as the reigning Miss Earth beauty queen.
Matthias has mentioned to the contestants of the Miss Earth 2016, even before the crowning took place, that ‘whoever will be crowned at the finals must carry forward the message and be ardent towards her role as Miss Earth, a representative of the healthy environment.’ He was pleased to see Katherine working towards her advocacy carrying forward the message of Restoration and Reforestation and encouraging people to adopt the 5 Rs- ‘Rethink, Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, & Respect’ for which the Miss Earth pageant stands for.
