Katie Elliott crowned as Miss Maine 2017 for Miss America 2018

The next contestant to be featured as part of our series, "The Road to Miss America 2018," is Katie Elliott from Scarborough. 

She will now represent her state at the Miss America 2018 to be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on September10, 2017. The event will be broadcast by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Miss America 2017 from Arkansas, Savvy Shields will officially crown her successor.

On her win she said, “I first became involved in pageants during high school when I competed for Miss Maine’s Outstanding Teen. In my first year, I was placed as 2nd Runner-Up. I enjoyed the experience so much that I returned the following year and won! Participating in the Miss America Organization has taught me so much about myself and has given me an outlet to discuss topics I’m passionate about’’.

Miss Maine 2016 Marybeth passed the crown to her successor Katie Elliott and signed off for the last time.
She further said, “Marybeth Noonam has been an amazing representative for the state of Maine. She has put serving others above all else and it is something I truly admire about her’’.

Katie previously won Miss Outstanding Teen 2012 and had a dream of winning the coveted crown of Miss America 2018.

Miss Maine competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Maine in the Miss America pageant. Maine has been represented in the pageant since 1937, although the state has never produced a winner.
