Margana Wood crowned as Miss Texas 2017 for Miss America 2018

Miss Travis County 2017, Margana Wood has been crowned as Miss Texas 2017 on Saturday at the 80th Anniversary of Miss Texas Scholarship Competition held at the Eisemann Center in Richardson.

She will now represent her state at the Miss America 2018 to be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on September10, 2017. The event will be broadcast by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Miss America 2017 from Arkansas, Savvy Shields will officially crown her successor.

Miss Texas 2016 Caroline Carothers passed the crown to her successor, Margana Wood. The final night of the competition included the Lifestyle and Fitness, Presence and Poise (Evening gown); Peer Respect and Leadership; Artistic Expression; and Top Five Knowledge and Understanding competitions. Margana defeated other contestants in all the rounds and engraved her name on the crown of Miss Texas 2017. 

Miss Texas 2017,Margana Wood, received a $20,000 cash scholarship and the use of an Infiniti from Grubbs Infiniti during her reign.  In addition to competing for scholarships, each contestant actively participated in raising funds for the Children's Miracle Network, which is the national platform of Miss America.
