Miss Alaska USA 2020 held its coronation night on 2nd November 2019 where Hannah Carlile was crowned the new queen as she became the official representative of Alaska in Miss USA 2020. On Saturday, dozens of contestants took the stage, including our own Morgan Hoover to compete for the title. The girls were judged on their interview skills, followed by the swimsuit and evening gown portion of the competition.
Carlile is a graduate student at Vanderbilt University pursuing a master's degree in international education policy and management. She serves as an education research consultant in partnership with Columbia Law School’s Center for Public Research and Leadership. Carlile succeeds and was crowned by Miss Alaska USA 2019 JoEllena Walters.
Carlile also performs research and evaluation for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation education initiative helping students of color reach academic goals. She hopes to promote international education and cultural awareness on the state and national level.
Also as the night ended, Jadyn Fraser was crowned Miss Alaska Teen USA 2020. Fraser is a graduate of West Valley High School who says she suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and hopes to advocate for people with depression, anxiety, and other diseases.
Fairbanks has been well represented in pageants this year as the newly crowned Miss Alaska USA 2020 and Miss Alaska Teen USA 2020 both hail from the city. Congratulations to both the winners.
