Miss Armenia (Miss Hayuhi) 2018 beauty contest has been announced by the Miss Armenia organization and the finale is set to place in Yerevan in May this year. Gohar Harutyunyan, Chair of Miss Armenia, has disclosed new changes in the upcoming contest like the new crown made by Nure and other expected changes.

Gohar said they have already started receiving applications for participation from Armenia and the Diaspora. In the recent days, Miss Hayuhi's organizers were discussing whether to include a swimsuit round in the show, given that in 2013 Miss World organization ditched the round.

The Board of Directors of the competition were discussing the issue of girls' swimsuit, meaning that the number of participants could be incomparably increased if there was no swimwear round. After a long discussion, however, the board of directors decided not to quash this issue.

"After a long discussion of the Board of Directors, it was decided that our contest is for brave girls. We try to choose a self-confident, self-helping girl, promoting a healthy lifestyle, a strong, sporty body. That is why we decided to keep the round. We are a developing country, and including the swimwear round is normal in Muslim countries. Miss World has dropped this segment because of having Muslim participants in the competition. We decided not to miss the most anticipated part of the show,” said Gohar.

Gohar disagreed with the observation that now the society has become more open. According to her, in 1998, when she was participating in the World Miss University contest, girls were much more normal about the swimwear performance, and now they are dealing with this problem, especially in the Diaspora.

The beautiful queen says that this year they are more prepared because they have experience. "We are not going to repeat the mistakes. There were mistakes, though not all the mistakes were related to our organizing committee. This year, we'll have better professionals in the team. In terms of scenario, we will be more involved. Of course, the most important thing is which girls will participate and what quality they posses. We will concentrate more on that direction. This year will be easier as many people know about the competition. We have people abroad who make pre-contests in their communities, “said Gohar.

Reflecting on the contest criteria and the widely debated shoes of 12 cm, Gohar said that. "With time, the criteria change. This year we will try to pick more comfortable shoes. None of our girls have complained that the heels are too high because everyone wanted to be taller," she said.

Talking about the new crown for the winner, Gohar was quoted saying, this year, a new crown will be made, which will be transferred every year to the new titleholder of the beauty contest. "We have a beautiful crown. The work of the pomegranate is of great value. Indeed, it is a masterpiece. There is an agreement with the municipality that it will remain in the gallery. The crown will be given to the beauty while participating in events.”

Gohar said they will do their best to make the contest annual. As for the partnership with Miss World this year, she said that her license was one year. The negotiations have already begun to get a license to participate in "Miss World" and "Miss Beetle".
