Former Miss Asia Pacific Dia Mirza marries entrepreneur Vaibhav Rekhi in Mumbai

Dia Mirza tied the knot with Mumbai businessman Vaibhav Rekhi in a low-key ceremony in Mumbai on 15th February 2021. The couple decided to get married according to the Hindu rituals in Dia’s Bandra residence’s garden are in the presence of their closed and loved ones including actor Aditi Rao Hydari and actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani. The couple who was dating for some time kept their romance private.

The diva looked stunning in red bridal saree paired up with a matching dupatta, and decided to tie her hair in a bun and large golden necklace and green bangles. The diva also shared a picture of her heena on her social media, whereas Vaibhav wore a kurta pajama and donned up with a beige turban. Post the ceremony, the couple stepped out and posed for the photographers and Dia distributed sweets to the media waiting outside the venue.

Dia was earlier married to film producer Sahil Sangha and the duo parted ways in 2019 after being together for 11 years. As per reports, Dia Mirza and Vaibhav Rekhi met during the coronavirus induced lockdown and got along instantly. After spending a couple of months getting to know each other, the two moved in together. Vaibhav's first wife is yoga and lifestyle coach Sunaina Rekhi and the ex-couple share a daughter together. Vaibhav is a financial investor and the founder of Piramal Fund Management Pvt Ltd.

Dia Mirza represented India at Miss Asia Pacific 2000 and became the second representative from India to win the title after a long break of 27 years. It has been 20 years since the beauty queen won the title and still feels the night she was announced as the winner is surreal to her. Dia mentioned, "It feels almost surreal to look back 20 years. I was so young when it all happened! The year 2000 marked a new millennium, bringing with it a sense of hope, promise and excitement", she adds.

 

 

Dia was never one who dreamt of winning a beauty pageant but instead came from a very different world. "I happened to be spotted by a modelling agent who offered me a part-time job at 16. Everything happened very quickly after that; advertising campaigns, fashion shows, editorial shoots. One thing led to another and I was selected from Hyderabad for the Miss India pageant. I remember my mother being really surprised that I wanted to take part!" she added.

After her successful stint as Miss Asia Pacific 2000, Dia turned towards Bollywood and took up roles that defined her values and ethics. She later turned producer and an important voice of environmental and wildlife conservation. Dia is known for her smile, humbles, and her love for environment for which she is appreciated by everyone across the world. She is widely recognized for her roles in Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Sanju and Thappad.
