Emilie Vansteenkiste was crowned Miss Belgium 2023 at the national final held on Saturday, 11th February 2023 at the Proximus Theater in De Panne. She will either represent her country at Miss World or Miss Universe or both which is yet to be announced.

Emilie Vansteenkiste bested 31 other contestants to win the national crown. She is 21 years of age and hails originally from Elewijt in Flemish Brabant. She is a Latin dancer and occupational therapy student who speaks both Dutch and French.

On winning the national crown, Emilie thanked her family and took to her official social media as she wrote, “Miss Belgium 2023. Unbelievable! My dream coming true! I am furiously excited to represent Belgium and try to help anywhere and anyone! Thank you everyone for voting for me and supporting me! Without you I wouldn't be here. Thank you, Darlene Devos and Miss Belgium. Thanks to all the crew for the great show and guidance! To all the girls: congratulations! It was an honor to go on this adventure with you! You are all winners and I am sure we will see each other again.”

Also at the end of the event finale, Claire Lansenebre, Victoria Kembukuswa, Cécile Deltour, Haifa Salem Ali and Léna Forseille were adjudged as the first, second, third, fourth and fifth runners-up respectively.

Miss Belgium 2022 Chayenne van Aarle was not able to pass the crown to her successor as she is still recovering from a serious car accident. However, this was not the only unfortunate incident of the show. The finale saw some delays due to an arrest of a man in his 40s near the venue who was suspected of an attack as he found a weapon in his possession and a second one in his vehicle.

"After an emotional week due to the accident with Chayenne, Miss Belgium 2022, and a horrifying afternoon where an attack has been foiled by the Belgian police, we are proud we could still make a beautiful show," Miss Belgium Organization posted on social media.
