Miss Colombia 2011 Daniella Álvarez poses for magazine shoot after leg amputation surgery

Miss Colombia 2011 Daniella Álvarez is an inspiration for people all over the world to never give up, no matter how hard life gets. She underwent surgery where her left foot was amputated due to ischemia from the navel to her extremities in the month of June 2020. After the surgery she underwent to treat a mass that emerged in her abdomen. She had explained that the problem started when she had arrived in Cartagena to quarantine with her family and felt the pain in the left side of her stomach which eventually lead her to think that she had 'an inflamed colon'. 

Recently, Daniella took to her social media to reveal the latest magazine photoshoot that she had done showcasing her left amputated leg on display. She captioned the beautiful picture, “What a nice surprise this cover! The most beautiful thing is that even if a bit of me is missing, my eyes continue to see the Daniella that I have always been, happy, full of faith and with many dreams ahead. Esta foto es súper especial para mi por dos cosas, primero porque oficialmente volví a vestirme de mi emprendimiento @danielaalvarezboutique que amo y adoro, solo que esta vez con pierna y media!! Y segundo, porque el fotógrafo ni ninguno de ustedes podría imaginarse los nervios que sentía de estar parada en estas muletas. Aunque para ustedes sería pan comido, imaginen hacerlo sin sentir su pie! Créanme, el pie es demasiado fundamental para el equilibrio. Ya llevo dos caídas en las muletas y seguiré intentándolo pues estarán conmigo para el resto de mi vida. ???? The fact that it is the first time that she has posed for a magazine cover again after her surgery showcases the strength and incredible beauty that she is and the one who captured the beauty in her absolute has. She has received a lot of love and support from the fans and beauty pageant world. In the next image she stated that the image is very special to her as she got to dress up in her own brand that she loves and adore. She also added, “And second, because neither the photographer nor any of you could imagine the nerves, I felt from standing on these crutches. Although for you it would be a piece of cake, imagine doing it without feeling your foot! Trust me, the foot is too critical for balance. I have already had two falls on crutches, and I will keep trying as they will be with me for the rest of my life.”

Her boyfriend, Lenard Vandera, who has stuck by her side like a rock had also shared on his official social media account a carousel of images next to the queen, where he shows her unconditional support and will always be by his side. “You have taught me so many things in life, and now you teach me that even in delicate moments is when you have to be stronger and more positive. What happiness it gives me to be able to accompany you and see that energy and light that you radiate”, wrote Vandera.

 

 

Daniella is a social journalist graduated from the Universidad del Norte de Barranquilla, a city from which she is a native. A lot of love and support have been posted online for her and also applauses for her move. She represented Colombia at Miss Universe 2012 on 19th December 2012 at PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. She was appreciated for her performance on-stage but unfortunately couldn’t win a high placement at the end of the event finale.
