Alexandra Vorontsova was crowned Miss Delaware USA 2016 by the outgoing titleholder Renee Bull on November 29, 2015 in Wilmington. Rachel Jensen was adjudged as first runner-up, Carissa Palumbo was titled as second runner-up, Kimberly Martin was announced as third runner-up and Caitlyn Nikituk was declared as fourth runner-up. Completing the semi-finalists spot were, Bret Thomas, Izabella Bradigan, Brooke Ostahowski, Kassady Sever, Destiny Drummond and Amanda Mahadan. In the same event, Emily Hutchison was crowned Miss Delaware Teen USA 2016 by Sierra Wright, the outgoing titleholder.

Alexandra’s ecstasy left all bounds as she beaming confronted the paparazzi: “My gratitude is endless. All I can do is thank all of the people who got me here today, I couldn’t have done this alone. Can’t wait for the year I have ahead of me! There’s so much to come!”
Delaware is the least successful state in the pageant being only state never to place or receive an award at Miss USA until 2015. In 2015 Renee Bull became the first representative from Delaware to place in the Top 15 and finished in the Top 10 efficiently ending the "Delaware Curse”. She also became historic by winning Miss Congeniality, becoming the first representative from Delaware to win an award. Delaware came close to the crown on number of occasions that is on 1992 and 1994.
