Nehal Chudasama represented India at Miss Universe 2018 on 17th December 2018[a] at IMPACT Arena, Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi Province, northern suburb of Bangkok, Thailand. She was appreciated for her strong performance at the competition but unfortunately, wasn’t place at the end of the event finale.
The rumors of Nehal Chudasama starring in India’s first Drag Race movie ‘Laila Manju’ were going around but now it has been confirmed that the beauty queen will be starring in the movie along with Shashank Vyas of Balika Vadhu fame, Abhimanyu Tomar, Jimmy Sheirgill & Iulia Vantur. The film is produced by Amit Basnet's AB International Films, Dinesh Gupta's Murliwale Pictures, Avi Raj & Premraj Pictures. The movie is directed by Prem Raj Soni and the movie has been getting a lot of attention due to its quirky title. The diva is excited and feels grateful for this opportunity to make her big screen debut with such a quirky and much needed movie.
The filmmakers shared the first look of the poster a few days ago which features two pair of legs in high heels in pink, red, and blue color tint and the background is black and white in color. The makers also expressed that this film will be the first of its kind film as it is based on the TV show Drag Race. The makers also revealed that Laila Manju is a light-hearted fun movie that has a strong social message that will talk about equality & also shows how the boys deal with Racism.
Nehal took to her social media account to share the poster of the movie by stating, “My heart, My first movie, Our first movie! (I say Our because it is yours as much as it is mine!) #LAILAMANJU & it's quirky poster will make you want to look forward to India's FIRST film on DRAG RACE. A tear rolls down my cheek, in happiness as I share about it with you all and waiting to see all your love.” The diva received a lot of positive and happy comments from her fans and friends for being a part of a movie that’s a hope to make a change in the society.
When Nehal was announced as the winner of Miss Diva Universe 2018, she mentioned, “The dream wasn’t just to represent India but to win Miss Universe. I’ve had this dream for years and I am looking forward to the journey now.” Nehal explained that the beauty pageant was important for her because she has been through a lot of failures and this was her chance to prove herself that she is better than her failures. The pageant has boosted her confidence and self-moral to take on the opportunities like these as she feels that the pre-pageant activities and the delegates who were with her during her stint at Miss Universe 2018 helped her a lot in believing herself and giving her best at the competition.
The diva shared an emotional message on completing her one year as Miss Diva Universe 2018 by stating, “The Chubby, unattractive Girl, the shorter one, who wasn't allowed to think about it, HAS DONE IT and if she can, anybody can. Grateful forever beyond words.” Nehal has worked with several designers and brands in India to finesse her performance and is now excited for her debut on the big screen especially with a movie which would be a hope for the new society. She is strong, confident, and determined towards making her marking not only as a model or an actress but someone who is a part of change in the society and a positive role model.
