Srinidhi Shetty represented India at Miss Supranational 2016 on 2nd December 2016 in Krynica-Zdrój. Miss Supranational 2015 Stephania Vásquez Stegman from Paraguay crowned Srinidhi Shetty as the new Miss Supranational 2016 at the end of the finale. She is the second Indian representative to have won this title.
After winning the title and post her reign, Srinidhi turned her way towards acting and debuted in the period acting film, K.G.F. in 2018 which starred Yash in the lead opposite Srinidhi and was directed by Prashant Neel. The movie went onto be a huge success at the box office and won two National Awards for Best Action and Best Special Effects. Srinidhi was appreciated for her performance in the movie and was nominated for SIIMA Awards and Filmfare Awards (South) under the category Best Female Debut.
When the reports of Srinidhi starring in K.G.F. came out people thought that it would be hard for a someone like her to switch to Kannada movies but the diva who is known for her dedication and hard working attitude proved everyone wrong and also stated, “I am a Kannadiga and am happy to start my film career in Sandalwood. I spent time with them trying to understand the project better. I know that modelling and acting are two different things, but to be honest, I am a little nervous when it comes down to ‘lights, camera, action’. It is not easy to get your expressions right and to understand the scenes, but I will practise and will give it my best. I am sure like everybody I will learn and grow.”
After the success of K.G.F., the diva went onto sign a Tamil-language supernatural thriller film directed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu, opposite Kollywood superstar Chiyaan Vikram. The movie was scheduled to be released in the month of May but due to the lockdown in the country, the filmmakers decided to postpone the release date. But Srinidhi recently took to her social media account and shared the stills of the song ‘Thumbi Thullal’ from the movie which was released by the filmmakers yesterday.
‘Thumbi Thullal’ features Cobra’s lead pair Chiyaan Vikram and Srinidhi Shetty. The duo can be looking their best dressed traditional attires, as they can be seen exchanging engagement rings in Kerala style amidst gorgeous backdrop from ‘God’s Own Country’. Thumbi Thullal is been sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Nakul Abhayankar. Music for the beautiful track is been composed by AR Rahman.
‘Cobra’ marks Srinidhi’s debut into the Tamil film industry and diva is all set to win hearts of her fans all over again. The diva made her mark into the hearts of people after she won the title of Miss Supranational 2016 for India and then when she delivered a cracking performance in the blockbuster K.G.F., and is very determined to do good projects in future. Asking about her debut in Bollywood, the diva mentioned, “After K.G.F., my portfolio has reached Bollywood. Everything is being discussed but I haven’t finalised any film but would still prioritise to do a Kannada film if it is a good project.”
