Miss Earth 2022, the 22nd edition of the international pageant, saw history being made not on one but multiple occasions as South Korea’s Mina Sue Choi was crowned Miss Earth 2022. The successful edition was held on-ground after two years since Covid-19 halted production and a shift to virtual events was made.
Here are the delegates who made history at Miss Earth 2022 –
Mina Sue Choi of Korea – Miss Earth 2022
Mina Sue Choi, representing Korea, made history by being the first South Korean beauty queen to win a Big4 Major International beauty pageant. She impressed everyone with her poise and her confidence at the pageant.
Mina began in her journey in Miss Korea 2021 where she was placed as the first runner-up and began her journey towards representing her country at Miss Earth 2022. She is 23 years of age studying Communication at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During the competition as well, she wished to challenge the status-quo and inspire others through her work.
Nadeen Ayoub of Palestine – Miss Earth-Water 2022
Nadeen Ayoub created history by being the first Palestinian woman to win the elemental title at Miss Earth. She was actually the dark horse of the Miss Earth 2022 competition. She came and she conquered at the finale stage, impressing everyone with her stellar performance.
Nadeen is also a humanitarian and has worked with the Miss Palestine organization as a project coordinator. She has worked to create awareness about environmental protection by organizing environmentally friendly activities for children at summer camps and schools. She has also worked on medical aid projects to help children and families, and women empowerment projects that promote and encourage women’s independent businesses.
Daphné Nivelles of Belgium – Top 8
Daphné Nivelles also became the first Belgium woman to enter Top 8 at Miss Earth. She was also the winner of Miss Pontefino Estate 2022. 21-year-old Daphne is an entrepreneur and owner of ‘House of Edda’, a fashion house founded in 2021 by the diva and her sister Delphine, providing affordable fashion with regular new collections and trendy clothing and accessories with character for every taste, for every occasion.
Sheyla Ravelo of Cuba – Top 12
Sheyla Ravelo also became the first Cuban woman to not only place at Miss Earth but also win Top 12 spot at the 2022 edition. She also won gold medal at the Long Gown competition and Talent competition and silver medal at the Beach Wear competition and Swimsuit competition. Sheyla was born in San Antonio de Los Baños, Cuba but immigrated to the United States when she was four years old. She is a first-generation college student and attended the University of Florida.
