Melissa Flores Godínez crowned Miss Earth Mexico 2018

Mexico finally found its Earth queen as the finale of Miss Earth Mexico 2018 came to an end last night on Saturday June 3, 2018. Miss Earth Michoacán 2018 Melissa Flores Godínez walked away with the beautiful crown of Miss Earth Mexico 2018.

Miss Earth Mexico held its 17th edition at Main Esplanade of the Port of Manzanillo, Colima where 32 beautiful young women from all over Mexico came to claim their right to represent Mexico internationally. While Melissa Flores Godínez won the primary title of Miss Earth Mexico 2018, the title of Miss Earth Mexico Fire 2018 was granted to the representative of Sinaloa, Alejandra Rubí Pérez López; Miss Earth Mexico Water 2018, to María Fernanda Contreras Lomelí, from the state of Jalisco; Miss Earth Mexico Air 2018, went to Lorena González Ortega from the state of Querétaro.

Other than the aforementioned 4 titleholders, Miss Earth Chiapas 2018 Anielka Siles, Miss Earth Colima 2018 Mitzy Medina, Miss Earth Nuevo León 2018 Paola Tanguma, and Miss Earth Puebla 2018 Alondra Cabrera were also a part of the Top 8 finalists on the coronation night.

Prior to this grand finale, many contestants had won in the preliminary activities. The typical costume competition was held in the municipality of Comala, where the Gold Medal for the first place went to the Campeche, represented by Diana Laura Rodríguez Espadas. The Best Recycled Suit competition was won by the representative of Colima, Mitzy Aurora Medina Cortés.

Similarly, Gloria Mar, representative of the state of Veracruz, won the Gold Medal for first place as Miss Social Media; while the state of Sinaloa, represented by Alejandra Rubí Pérez López, obtained a gold medal in the competition of the evening dress and the title of Miss Elegance was hung and, finally, the representative of Jalisco, María Fernanda Contreras Lomelí, obtained the medal of gold in the swimsuit competition.

The musical show for the entertainment section of the night was headed by the Panamanian singer and composer, Joey Montana.

Miss Earth International 2017, Karen Ibasco; Miss Water 2017, Juliana Franco; Miss Intercontinental 2017, Verónica Salas; Miss Earth Mexico 2017-2018, Karen Bustos; the national director of the contest, Paul Marsell, as well as the 32 state directors were in attendance of the grand ceremony.

The beauty pageant, Miss Earth Mexico, aims to highlight both the physical and intellectual attributes of each participant, with the promotion of awareness and environmental care of the planet and, that it was based in the state of Colima.
