19 May 2020 | Ana Walia

The 20th edition of Miss Earth i.e., Miss Earth 2020 will be held later this year where the delegates from across the world will represent their respective countries and compete for the title of Miss Earth 2020. Miss Earth 2019 Nellys Pimentel of Puerto Rico will crown her successor at the end of the event.

Due to the outbreak of the pandemic covid19 in the world, the national pageants have been kept on hold or postponed as of now. The national directors of Miss Earth Puerto Rico had decided to send their last year’s first runner-up Krystall Badillo who was adjudged as Miss Earth Puerto Rico 2019 Miss Air to represent Puerto Rico at Miss Earth 2020 competition. In a recent live session held between Miss Earth Puerto Rico national directors Vanessa De Roide and Joe Amhed, the two announced that Krystall Badillo will represent the country at the Miss Earth 2020 pageant.

Krystal is 24-years-old and stands 170 cm tall. She is registered nurse and works as a professional model too. The diva has successfully managed to maintain a balance with her profession as a nurse and her dream to be a beauty queen titleholder. She is very passionate about being a beauty queen and on-stage.

The diva is not new to the pageantry as she had previously participated in Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2018 where she represented Canóvanas but unfortunately, couldn’t win. She didn’t let this loss affect her and she participated in Miss Earth Puerto Rico 2019 and was adjudged as the first runner-up at the end of the event finale with a title of Miss Earth Puerto Rico 2019- Miss Air. She was excited to be back on-stage as she feels confident and empowered on-stage. But now she gets to represent her country of Puerto Rico at Miss Earth 2020 stage.

Krystal feels in the saying, “reduce, reuse, and plant”, and wants to advocate about the same. She uses her social media account to keep her fans and followers about how to plant trees and plants. She likes to spend her time in nature as she explains nature gives her peace and involuntary smile. She believes that if an individual is ready to give their best into something, there is nothing in world that can stop them from having it. She has also learnt on how we can take advantage of the natural resources that we have in each country. In Puerto Rico’s case it would be sun, water, and wind. She wants to spread awareness regarding the same with her delegation.

Krystal also advocates about women empowerment because she feels that it is the need of the world today and she uses her social media to do that. In one of her pictures she uploaded, she captioned it with, “Surround yourself with positive people who believe in your dreams, encourage your ideas, support your ambitions and bring out the best in you.” She feels that women should not be asked to do anything but make their own choices in life. She is very grateful for her family and friends who have always supported and motivate her in order to follow her dreams.

Krystal’s confidence and determination has made her one of the most promising candidates at the competition. She will start training for the finale night; working on her personal growth, and building up herself for the day when she gets to represent her culture, tradition, and values to everyone. She believes that every day is a chance to do something better for the society and she’d use her platform to do that.

Congratulations to the queen for being appointed as the new Miss Earth Puerto Rico 2020!
