Marisa Paige Butler: From Miss World to Miss Earth

Miss Earth USA 2020 will be the 16th edition of the Miss Earth USA pageant which is going to host its pageant at South Point Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas from 13th – 19th July 2020. Emani Davis was crowned Miss Earth USA 2019, but due to the pageant protocol, Davis had to give up her national title as she became Miss Earth Air 2019 at Miss Earth 2019. Then, the first runner-up Libby Hill, who competed as Miss Earth Gulf Coast USA 2019, inherited the title of Miss Earth USA 2019 and will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

Marisa Paige Butler who represented United States at Miss World 2018 and was placed at Top 30 is now representing Maine at Miss Earth USA 2020. Marisa is 26-years-old and stands 173cm tall. She will join Miss World America 2015 Victoria Mendoza in this new possible opportunity of representing USA in the international stage. She has worked as an Investment Executive Assistant at Sprott Global. Marisa graduated from Stonehill College in Easton Massachusetts with a degree in Economics and a minor in Business. During her time at Stonehill she was a member of their Division II Soccer and Lacrosse teams, as well as the Stonehill Cheering Squad. In the spring semester of her junior year, Marisa studied abroad at Kings College in London. While abroad, Marisa walked in a London Fashion Week event, hiked to the top of Mt. Vesuvius at Pompeii, and traveled to eight European countries.

She started her pageant career in 2016 when she participated and was crowned Miss Maine 2016 and represented Maine at the Miss USA 2016 pageant was held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on 5th June 2016 but was unplaced.

Marisa then moved to San Diego, California where she competed for and won the title of Miss San Diego 2018, which was the organization's 100th anniversary. At Miss San Diego, she won the Interview Award, The Talent Award, and Miss Photogenic. Marisa has worked with various designers, photographers and brands which has helped her in gaining more experience in terms of modeling on-stage and being confident in front of the camera. She is a quick learner and is very excited to learn new things from people she works with. She has adapted the quality of working on herself the way she is guided by her mentors to ace her performance.

The diva is very beautiful and confident with a strong personality which makes her stand out from the group. She has bewitching smile with gorgeous golden locks that just adds up to her beauty.  Marisa is also a classically trained vocalist, model, and a conservationist. Her most noteworthy conservation effort was during her time as a volunteer for NOAA’s Corporative Shark Tagging Program. She now helps restore wildlife habitats in San Diego for the endangered California Least Terns. She has her own project #ServiceSaturday project which was her weekly volunteer day but is now an online movement that aims to get people to schedule time in their week to give back to their community by utilizing their unique skill sets and interest. The #ServiceSaturday project includes volunteering to maintain the endangered California Least Terns nesting sites in San Diego, organizing multiple beach clean ups with friends, and volunteering with the San Diego River Park foundation and San Diego Canyon Lands. Marisa wants to expand her project into schools so that more young students are encourage to view their efforts and shared space and volunteer to help the community.

In one of her interviews she was asked why she wants to work for sharks, Marisa answered, “Not a lot of people view sharks as something that needs to be saved. Seventy to 100 million sharks are killed yearly, and people just don’t know about it. Everyone wants to save cute seals or puppies because they are cute and cuddly, they don't realize that sharks are important to save”.

Marisa Paige Butler is an example of hard work, vision and dedication towards something good. Her hard work and dedication to represent her country at international pageant was clear and precise in her mind and thus, she decided to participate in Miss Earth USA 2020 and aims to win. With her strong opinions, beautiful face and confidence, she can be a front runner for the win.
