The 20th edition of Miss Earth, i.e., Miss Earth 2020 is going to be held on 29th November 2020 and for the first time in history, Miss Earth will crown their new titleholder with a virtual coronation night due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The winner will succeed Miss Earth 2019 Nellys Pimentel of Puerto Rico for the title.
Thái Thi Hoa was appointed as the new representative of Vietnam for the virtual coronation ceremony of Miss Earth 2020. She is 26-years-old and stands 175 cm tall; graduated from the Faculty of Banking and Finance, Saigon University, and now runs a company. Her advocacy for the competition is finding a balance between human and Mother Earth. She wants to raise awareness for people that we as humans should take action to preserve the environment. She believes that we must change our behaviour of consumption, take necessary action towards material sharing, reducing waste, organic consumption, biodiversity protection, saving energy and water and recycling.
Thái believes that everyone in the world has the right to dream, to fulfil their dreams step by step, to always keep positive energy and connect with the community to share positive things and overcome the persistence and negativity in life. Being from a normal family, she takes this platform very seriously and is very grateful that her dreams are coming true. For the diva, being kind to oneself and people around is very important as she believes that everything starts with being kind. She has been prepping herself up for the competition which is just a month away.
Phuong Khánh Nguyen represented Vietnam at Miss Earth 2018 on 3rd November 2018 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. She was crowned as Miss Earth 2018 at the end of the event finale and became the first Vietnamese woman to win the Miss Earth title which is one of the big four international beauty pageant title. She was a strong, confident, and determined woman who impressed everyone with her answer during the final question and answer round of the competition. She was asked, "Being a millennial, what do you think is the most pressing issue of your generation?" She answered, “Good evening, everyone. My answer is our ignoring. We have so many technologies, and we just use social media and only care about ourselves. We should spend our time to think and feel with what's happening with the Earth right now. One small action multiplied by a million people can transform the world.”
Nguyen was a successful queen who fulfilled her crown duties to the fullest and helped the ones in need with an open heart. She travelled across the globe to help various organizations in their work which she believed was eventually helping in healing mother nature. After Nguyen’s strong and a successful reign, the pageant fanatics feel that Miss Earth 2020 could be a sandwich win for Vietnam as Miss Earth Vietnam 2020 Thái Thi Hoa seems potential and has been performing exceedingly well at all the pre-pageant activities. The diva describes herself as a dynamic, independent, and strong type of woman who wishes to have a voice to do meaningful things for the society and the environment and inspire young people in difficult circumstances to dream and pursue their dreams. We wish her all the best for the competition and hopes that she is able to fulfil all her dreams.
