As we get close to the finals of Miss Earth 2014 pageant, to be held tomorrow, in Manila (Philippines), we have compiled some interesting facts and trivia about the Miss Earth pageant in general and the 2014 Miss Earth pageant in particular.

Below are a few interesting facts about Miss Earth pageant-

1. Miss Earth is the most recent entry to Big 4 pageants, having made its debut in the year 2001, and has been held every year since then.

2. Miss Earth winners till date have come from five continents - North America, South America, Asia, Africa and Europe. No country from Oceania has ever won any Miss Earth title.

3. The first ever Miss Earth title was won by Denmark in 2001, when Catharina Svensson was crowned Miss Earth 2001.

4. Beauties from South America have won the maximum Miss Earth title till date, in fact majority of the titles so far (7 out of 13)

5. Venezuela and Brazil have held the record for maximum Miss Earth titles, with each of them having won two titles till date.

6. Africa got its first and only Miss Earth title in the year 2002, when the winner Džejla Glavovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was dethroned, and her runner-up Winfred Adah Omwakwe of Kenya was crowned the winner.

7. Philippines won its first and only Miss Earth title in the year 2008, when Karla Henry was crowned Miss Earth 2008.

8. India won its first and only Miss Earth title in the year 2010, when Nicole Faria was crowned Miss Earth 2010.
