Miss England 2020 will be hosting its grand coronation ceremony later this year where gorgeous beauties from all over the country will compete for the national crown and the opportunity to represent England in Miss World 2020. Miss England 2019 Bhasha Mukherjee will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

Emily Rowlands is one of the contestants who is vying for the title of Miss England 2020. She is 17-years-old and is currently studying English literature and Sociology. She is passionate about representing England at Miss World 2020 stage. She was adjudged as the runner-up at Miss Leicestershire 2020 but is still competing as a contestant for the title.

Emily explains in her introduction video that she is a passionate feminist using the platform during the Miss England contest to do as much as she can, even if it has to take place online, to try and get the message across that ‘beauty pageants’ have changed so much throughout the decades. She explains, “It is so much more than just looks! The girls do the most incredible charity work and are incredible role models to many. Being one of the youngest semi-finalists, I am determined to show no matter your age, if you put your mind to something, anything is possible.”

In preparing for the semifinals, she has been using her time in lockdown to raise money for charities that are dear to her – including the Miss England contest’s chosen charity Beauty With a Purpose, which protects the health, education and well-being of disadvantaged children worldwide, and We Do Ethical, an environmental charity which helps the conversation of the planet.

Emily said “Fundraising for charity is something I’m extremely passionate about and I’m using my platform during the Miss England contest to do as much as I can. Beauty With a Purpose is extremely important to me as I am a Young Leader for the Girlguiding Organisation and I love to be able to volunteer to ensure young girls receive the skills and confidence they need for when they grow up, and have a positive role model to look up to.”

Emily feels excited and blessed that she has been selected to be a part of a platform which encourages and empowers young women to get the skills and confidence in life. She is herself a young leader for a girl guiding group, showing youngsters a positive role model as they grow up. She is very young but very confident with her dreams and ambitions in life and hopes that she can win the competition.

Emily is preparing herself for the competition and working on her body angles, postures, on-stage walk, communication, and interview skills. She is also working on preparing herself mentally and emotionally for the competition as it is necessary for beauty queens to be ready. Even though Miss England 2020 will be Emily’s first ever beauty pageant but she is confident and focused towards winning the title and representing England at Miss World 2020 stage.
