Eileen Gonzales (full name Mary Eileen Palencia Gonzales) from Cavite, a 22-year old single mother of one child, was crowned Miss Global Philippines 2018 at the finale concluded last night at Cove Manila. She succeeds and was crowned by Mary Ann Mungcal, Miss Global Philippines 2017, and will now represent the Philippines in Miss Global 2018 international beauty pageant to be held later this year.
Miss Global Philippines 2018 was the fifth edition of the Miss Global Philippines beauty pageant that advocates for women empowerment and tourism and allows single, unmarried mothers to compete.
It was Eileen’s second attempt at the title, having competed in Miss Global Philippines 2015, where she ended up being the second runner-up to the winner Mary Candice Ramos. Eileen also won the special award for Best in Evening Gown at the evening gown competition held prior to the finale. She also won Pesos 300,000 cash and Pesos 300,000 worth of gifts and services from sponsors.
Eileen’s court at the finale included the following tourism ambassadors -
Cheska Viñas from Marilao, Bulacan (First runner-up);
Nicole Shaye Dichoso (Nicole Osuna Dichoso) from Olongapo, Zambales (Second runner-up, Best in Swimwear and Best in Cultural Wear);
Charlene Duran from Laguna (Third runner-up); and
Alexandra Moraga from Meycauayan City, Bulacan (Fourth runner-up).
Best in Talent winner was Sunshine Bantillo from Plaridel, Misamis Occidental, who won the title at the preliminary talent competition held earlier.
