The eighth edition of Miss Grand International i.e. Miss Grand International 2020 is all set to host the coronation night on 27th March, 2021 at the Show DC Hall in the city of Bangkok,Thailand, where 63 delegates from across the globe will compete for the international crown. Miss Grand International 2019 Valentina Figuera of Venezuala will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
As the journey of the pageant goes along, the organization hosted the National Costume Competition on 24th March 2021 at the Show DC Hall where the queens from all over the world paraded on the ramp proving their worth in the competition with confidence and poise, representing their countries through their beautiful traditional costumes.
While all the contestants performed splendidly well, some of them were outstanding and grabbed everyone’s attention. For those who couldn’t catch up, we have prepared a set of our Top 10 favourites, in no particular order, who looked stunning and might stand a position as the winner. So, without any further ado, let’s look at these divas-
Ivana Batchelor Miss Grand Guatemala 2020
The national costume of Guatemala, “Xecul Occidental”, represented the Church of San Andres Xecul, rich with colourful sculptures on the façade and brightly painted domes. It is world famous for its well-preserved Spanish Baroque influenced architecture. Ivana carried her larger than life costume with such grace and poised poses. The costume was created by Cesar Alejandro Portillo.
Patcharaporn Chantarapadit Miss Grand Thailand 2020
Namfon’s costume represented the “Floating Market of Siam”, the long-lasting lifestyle of Thai people with the ‘paddle boat’ as the main vehicle to travel. It reflects the distinctive Thai way uniquely. Namfon carried her costume in such a fun way that it missed no eye. Her cheerful and warm performance was a true reflection of the country. The costume was designed by Art Akarach.
Aurra Kharishma Miss Grand Indonesia 2020
The Indonesian diva wore the costume, “The Edacious of Chicken Satay”. Chicken Satay represents the rich food culture and how widely popular this dish is in Indonesia. Aurra’s charm and infectious smile enhanced the beauty of her costume. The costume was desgined by Jember Fwashion Carnaval.
Angie Kieth Miss Grand Panama 2020
The national costume for Panama, “Zaracunde” was a gift from Panama to the world on the stage. It’s an African-American dance representing the escape of Mama Grande with her many children. It recalls how Afro-descendants rebelled and fled from masters and slavers. Angie Kieth presented some dance moves with a big smile and charming confidence. Her costume was designed by Samuel E’ Villarreal C’.
Denisa Spergerová Miss Grand Czech Republic 2020
Danisa’s national costume was inspired by the traditional “Czech Porcelain”. One of the longest traditions of glass making that stems from Czech glass making. Danisa also brought along two Czech Porcelain dishes as her prop which enhanced the beauty and elegance of her costume. Her confident poses and the stunning white hair uplifted her performance. The costume was designed by Miroslav Micheal Knot.
Samantha Mae Bernardo Miss Grand Philippines 2020
“Agila”, the national costume of Philippines was inspired by their National Bird- the Great Philippine Eagle, the rarest and most powerful birds in the world. The costume intended to create awareness because the Philippine Eagle is critically endangered due to massive loss of habitat. The Gold in the costume represented the magnificent journey of Samantha Bernardo, the Filipino Queen and to pay homage to the MGI Golden Crown. The magnificent costume was designed by Patrick Isorena.
Teresa Pe´rez Moreno Miss Grand Nicaragua 2020
The national costume for Nicaragua was “FIligrana Precolombina”, representing the shining Nicaragua before the world. Teresa Moreno presented the Filigree Pre-Columbian gold jewellery, of decorative animal motifs, ornamental motifs, the spheroid, disk and sphere. Her costume was designed by Carlos Nicaragua in support of Eduard Vasquez.
Ruri Saji Miss Grand Japan 2020
Ruri’s costume was a fusion inspired by Kokeshi Doll and the Anime Robot. From its highly regarded historical origins and cultural association, this minimalistic wooden doll turning into a well-structured Anime Robot ensemble showcases Japan’s technological advancements leading the world in the field of robotics since 19th century. Japan’s national costume was designed by Don Cristobal.
Eliana Roa Miss Grand Venezuela 2020
The national costume of Venezuela, “Caroni, the Bride of Orinoco”, was inspired by the beauties of the Bolivar State, specifically in Cachamay. The Caroni River is one of the most important rivers in Venezuela and a tributary of river Orinoco. Eliana with her amazing performance and beautiful costume presented the flora and fauna, the life surrounding the river. The costume was designed by Antonio Bethencourt.
Nguyen Le Ngoc Thao Miss Grand Vietnam 2020
Thao shined with her “The Golden Jade Leaf” costume in the international costume. The costume was based on the charming Golden Tree branches and Jade leaves of the Nguyen emperors, a special kind of antique, which used to be in many royal palaces and tombs in Hue city. They are evidences of the regal life. Enagaged with hundreds of gold mirrors, thousand pieces of glitter and crystals, the costume sparkled with visual effects on the stage. This eye-catching and stunning costume was designed by Tin Thai.
