The 8th edition of Miss Grand International, i.e., Miss Grand International 2020, is all set to be held on 27th March 2021 in Bangkok, Thailand where stunning beauties from all over the globe will compete for the international crown. Miss Grand International 2019 Valentina Figuera will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
While this year’s batch boasts of stunning and talented beauties, there are a few ladies who have stood out amongst the rest and show the immense capability to be the winner of the 2020 edition. In a series of features, we’d love to introduce to you our Top 15 favourite contestants for the crown.
Sonia Augusta Luna Menéndez from Ecuador was appointed Miss Grand Ecuador 2020 and replaced Lisseth Naranjo for the title and succeeded Miss Grand Ecuador 2019 Mara Topic. Lisseth stepped down from her position as she expressed her desire to not to continue being Miss Grand Ecuador 2020 and the organization agreed.
Sonia is 25-years-old and stands 180 cm tall. She is studying in third year of her Clinical Psychology degree at the Catholic University of Guayaquil. She works as a professional model and is focusing on winning the title for her country. She aspires to have her own psychological office and master degree in clinical psychology along with creating her own rescue centre for abandoned animals.
Sonia is not new to the world of beauty pageants as she was Queen of Guayaquil in 2017 and later was adjudged as the second finalist at Miss Ecuador 2019. She has prepared well for the competition even though she had a very little time to prepare compared to the other delegates but she is assured that she will do justice and above all have fun. Sonia accepted this challenge as she believes that being Miss Grand Ecuador 2020 bring a lot of opportunities for her for which she is grateful.
The diva had mentioned that preparing for the competition was hard but that’s how she likes to compete; to challenge herself towards being the best version. She added, “The easy, the free and the effortless, particularly bores me.” She is very proud of her culture and traditions and believes that she will be ablet to do justice with the opportunity she has and make the best use of it.
Sonia has been performing exceptionally well at the quarantine activities which is why she is one of the favourites for the title. The diva shared that she understands the importance of the beauty competition and wants everyone to know that not everything is makeup and high heels, there is also full commitment and determination involved. “I’ve been proud of many things before, but nothing like having your (Ecuador) name on my chest,” she added that shows that she is very proud of her country and extremely grateful that she is representing her country at Miss Grand International 2020.
The gorgeous beauty has done social projects that focus on health and organizes workshops in schools about bullying and self-esteem. She is currently advocate for issues such as gender equality and advocacy for women's rights. She loves to read books and articles about her career, fan-fiction and social issues, along with watching anime.
She is beautiful, confident, and determined to win the competition and with her enchanting looks she can impress anyone. The diva mentioned, “Things that I treasure and were invaluable and full of motivation for every sacrifice and effort I had to make to achieve the goal.” She is assured and confident with her preparation and hopes to do justice with the title the organization has trusted her with. She is very grateful for the opportunities she has received till now where she has been able to showcase her strong and confident performance.
