Miss Grand Netherlands 2018 is on its way to the finale. Miss Grand Netherlands is an annual national beauty pageant held in Netherlands that selects representatives for the Miss Grand International pageant. The pageant comes under the franchise of “12 Months of Beauty”, which is run by Robin and Stefan, the national directors.
Miss Grand Netherlands 2017 Kelly Van Den Dungen will be passing on her crown to her successor at a grand ceremony.
But before that, here are our Top 5 favourite finalists for the Miss Grand Netherlands 2018 crown.
Demy van der Heide
“I want to achieve beside the crown, that the people will get to know me, who I am and what I stand for in life: Equality, love and friendship,” Demy says as she talks about what she wants to achieve through the Miss Grand Netherlands 2018 competition.
About her advocacy, she adds, “My advocacy is: I stand for gender and race equality. Everybody is the same and they must be treated the same.”
Esmeralda Carelse
“Being scouted gave me this amazing opportunity to take myself seriously. I saw myself grow in such a short time and it is absolutely amazing. I feel blessed to be able to experience this. Since the competition, my self-confidence has grown and I became more comfortable in connecting with the people around me. With the feedback I challenge myself to step outside my comfort zone and to be more critical. This also helped me grow which has been the best part of the journey so far,” Demy says as she talks about what she wants to achieve through the Miss Grand Netherlands 2018 competition.
Jeanne Molenaar
“I want to become proud of myself and I want to do good for others. Raise awareness for people who need it. To be a famous model is also something I want to achieve,” Demy says as she talks about what she wants to achieve through the Miss Grand Netherlands 2018 competition.
About her advocacy, she adds, “May, fourth, and fifth are Dutch Memorial days. During those days thoughts and prayers are sent to the victims of the Second World War. During the fourth we think of the victims and during the fifth we celebrate the liberation of Holland.
The theme van Miss Grand is: ’Stop the war and violence’. Luckily, Holland knows no war at this moment. Something we should be very thankful of. Furthermore I want to know what the Dutch people think about all this and how they experience their freedom.”
Kimberley Xhofleer
“I want to become the best version of myself. Every time you are wearing your sash is a moment to remember what you have already accomplished. It gives me self-confidence and it reminds me where I stand for. I really want to be an inspiration for other people. The 17th of June we will know who the new Miss Grand Netherlands is and at that point I want to look in the mirror and say to myself that I learned as much as possible during the journey. For me the inner beauty is really important, so I want to use these months of preparation to focus on this point,” Demy says as she talks about what she wants to achieve through the Miss Grand Netherlands 2018 competition.
Safina Barsatie
“The most important thing I want to achieve from this competition is to win the people’s hearts. Their support is important for me to achieve my goals. Besides that, I want to gain experience and have a wonderful time with my pageant sisters. But what I mostly look forward is to go international and proudly represent my country,” Demy says as she talks about what she wants to achieve through the Miss Grand Netherlands 2018 competition.
About her advocacy, she adds, “My advocacy is to speak and stand up for people that might not be heard. Especially for those who are victim of war. We often don't realize what impact it has on their lives. They have lost their family, friends, everything that they have built up and love. If I have the chance to help them I would support them at any possible way.”
