Miss Intercontinental organization is all set to crown its new Miss Intercontinental in a few days and each delegate is giving her level best to win the coveted crown for her country. With Philippines’ Iona Gibbs being a front-runner for the Miss Intercontinental 2023 crown, there might be a chance that she creates a sandwich win this year.

What exactly is a sandwich win? When a country wins the pageant in the first year, does not win it the next year and then again wins it in the third year, it is referred as a sandwich win. Philippines won Miss Intercontinental in 2021 under Cinderella Faye Obenita’s delegation.

Iona, born in San Juan City, is of Filipino-Canadian descent. Her family moved to Canada when she was 2 as she grew up in Ottawa, Ontario. However, her family moved around a lot growing up. Iona finished her elementary education in Canada and then moved back to the Philippines in 2015 where she finished high school at MIT International School in Alabang.

Iona is currently completing her degree at DLSU, Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science, major in Organizational and Social Systems Development. Iona will definitely be a strong representative of Philippines at Miss Intercontinental 2023 with her strong and charming personality and strong oratory skills.

Iona might be almost ready to create a sandwich win for Philippines at Miss Intercontinental 2023. If Iona manages to do that, she will create second sandwich win for Philippines and third at Miss Intercontinental.

Miss Intercontinental 2023, the 51st edition of the international pageant, will be held on 15th December 2023 in Egypt where Miss Intercontinental 2022 Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc from Vietnam will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
