She is not new to the glitzy world of pageantry as she earlier participated in Miss Supranational Japan 2017 competition where she managed to reach Top 5 but couldn’t win the title. However, she won Miss Friendship award and People’s Choice award.

This is the first time someone of Filipino descent will represent Japan in Miss Intercontinental pageant. Kumi will now go through extensive training for the international contest. She currently works as an assistant in her family business in Japan and is also active in numerous social causes associated with the Chiba Lion’s Club.

Kumi is the third Japanese to compete at Miss Intercontinental 2017 contest in nearly 45 years since the competition started. On this, Kumi said, “It is an honour for me to represent my country at Miss Intercontinental Japan 2017 and third time is a charm.”
