After winning the Miss International 2016 pageant, Kylie Verzosa of Philippines not just dug out fame for herself, but has also lifted the pageant up to a level that it should have been as one of the Big 4 pageants. Everybody knows Kylie and her successful triumph at the pageant this year. But the Pinoy beauty herself has revealed lesser known facts about her childhood and journey to the crown during a photoshoot held for Mega Style Philippines Magazine.

So the photoshoot took place at the National Museum of Fine Arts, and the photographs will make you believe that Kylie has been born with a sprinkling of fairy dust. During the photoshoot, Kylie revealed that the development stages in the life of a child are crucial and she has been blessed to be urrounded with good people and a good environment. She describes herself and recalled that she was a normal girl figuring out her way through all the insecurities.

Kylie always wanted to question the stigma that said an educated woman should not, and will not join beauty pageants. She thought that beauty pageants can be the way to find her and be heard. So she found herself onstage for the first time, enthusiastic but with a hint of uncertainty. “What am I doing here,” she thought, as she sashayed in front of the entire nation. She didn’t go home with a crown that evening. “I was devastated,” said Kylie.

Kylie was definitely hurt but the beauty didn’t give up, and instead she took it all in and came up for a second attempt with much more dedication, determination and yearlong training. It was her second attempt at Binibining Pilipinas and the girl finally took home the crown of Miss International Philippines. The feeling was unmatched and Kylie suddenly felt alive; she was all over the internet, she felt being heard and she earned the limelight.

“I want to bring to light depression, anxiety disorders, and everything related to mental health,” says Kylie. One thing led to another and Kylie finally took home the Miss International 2016 crown. After winning the prestigious title for her country, after coming back home to a gala homecoming, making several television appearances, a series of interviews, and the dinner with President Duterte, she finally felt all her hard work now paying off. She wanted a voice, she got one that reaches far and wide. She wanted to find herself, she found a Kylie she never even knew existed.
