Hakone, Kanagawa Visit - An array of beauties of Miss International 2015 strutted through sightseeing spots at the hot spring resort of Hakone, Kanagawa on October 26 to put it back on the tourist map after volcanic activity has blown a hole in its appeal this summer.

The 72 aspirants, who will vie for the 55th Miss International Beauty Pageant title in Tokyo on Nov. 5, visited Lake Ashinoko and a museum. “I like this beautiful garden and mountains,” said Miss Netherlands Rachel van der Meulen, 21. “It's very peaceful, and I really like it.”

They clicked photos at Mount Fuji and forests boasting colorful autumn foliage in the background as well as enjoyed a boat ride on the lake. The beauties also viewed, in the distance, a little smoke rising from Mount Hakoneyama. "They said to me the volcano is a little bit dangerous right now, but it's a good place," van der Meulen said.

The tour was organized by the Odawara Hakone Chamber of Commerce and Industry to globally publicize the spa resort town through Facebook and other social networking services. "I definitely will tell people Hakone is safe and beautiful," van der Meulen said.
