Mariah Clayton of Zachary was crowned Miss Louisiana USA 2020 on 19 October 2019. She will be representing Louisiana at the Miss USA 2020 during the spring of 2020. She succeeds Victoria Paul Miss Louisiana USA 2019 from Alexandria.
Mariah Clayton is a student of Psychology at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rogue. Mariah Clayton has expressed how her sister Shelby Clayton influenced & encouraged her to enroll for a pageant with her. Shelby wanted Mariah and her to be “sister queens”. Mariah ended up being the second runner up on that competition.
Clayton comes from the world of sports and played volleyball all her life. For Mariah, pageantry was like a whole new sport she wanted to explore. She wants to host a massive volleyball camp at LSU with all the amazing college and club coaches. The money that would come from the camp would be donated to different organizations throughout the state.
She expressed that enrolling in for Miss Louisiana USA 2020 gave her a real purpose for competing in pageants. Clayton wants to inspire young girls to show that they can do anything they want to do. She wants them to be proud of themselves and be confident. She believes that the system is slowly turning towards more representation.
Mariah plans to do on a lot of community service and be a leader of the community. She will be representing the state of Louisiana at Miss USA 2020 on the spring 2020.
