Miss World Spain is one of the most important beauty pageants in Spain, and have always received beautiful aspirants from all over the country. It’s pageant season, and Spain is also starting with its long and scrutinizing process of selecting the most deserving Spanish beauty to represent the country at the Miss World competition.

The regional crowning for the pageant's contestants has gone underway and the winners for most provinces are out. Representing Soria in the final of the contest Miss World Spain 2018 is 24-year-old Maria Drake.

“I hope to win and bring the crown to Soria, if I go it is to give the best. Above all I want to enjoy it and live it”, Maria told a section of the media. She also said that she was aware that, "not everyone has the opportunity to live something like this", so she will "try to win" the contest.

Although she was born in Soria, her first four years were spent in the pine forest town of Casarejos, which showed immense support to the beauty queen after the news of her candidacy for Miss World Spain 2018 was out. "The messages of support from the people are greatly appreciated," said Maria.

Her hope for coming to this contest roots from a long time ago when she was 19 years old. Maria was about to become a candidate from Málaga. When she was just about to start the whole process, she suffered a severe sprain. Doctors predicted that she could not walk in heels for a year, so that dream was cut short, but only momentarily.

In the years that have passed since then, there were some new attempts but none ended up bearing fruit due to Maria being in the middle of her studies. Now, once again, the organization got in touch with her and Maria decided that it was the moment, and she decided that she would present herself from the province of Soria.

For the future, Maria would like to dedicate herself professionally to becoming a wedding planner. But also, would not mind working as a model, something that she has already done sporadically.
