Miss Nebraska 2017 Allison Teitjen joined the members of the Kearney Rotary Club on 16th January 2018 where she gave a speech talking about her journey to becoming Miss Nebraska 2017. Allison is going to represent her state in the upcoming Miss America pageant.

Allison began by talking about the importance of the Miss America pageant as not just a competition of beauty, congeniality or swimsuits but a scholarship competition which helps young women of America to achieve their dreams by providing them monetary aid.

Talking about her inspiration to start a journey in the pageant world, Allison gave complete credit to Miss Nebraska 2012 Mariah Cook. On meeting her, Mariah told her how winning the title helped her pave her way through college debt-free and that’s when our beauty queen decided she wanted to participate too.

In 2013, Allison contested Miss Milo Day Queen in Chester but unfortunately, she did not win. She went on to participate in the Miss Kool-Aid Days pageant in Hastings the following year but her luck did not work there too.

In the fall of 2014, finally, she was named Miss Heartland at the Nebraska State Fair. That’s where she became eligible for Miss Nebraska pageant. She finished as the third runner-up and then went on to become Miss Kearney in 2015.

My goal was never to be Miss America, but to be Miss Nebraska. Miss America was just icing on the cake,” Allison said, as a proud part of the Nebraska family. As a Veteran family member, her platform “United We Stand: Honoring Our Military,” remained strong as she gave a heartwarming speech. “It’s the duty of all of us, as American citizens, to support our military and everything they sacrifice for our great nation,” she said.

Allison hopes to become an occupational therapist after she graduates from UNL in 2019. Well, we’d like to wish her all the best and success in her future!
