Miss Earth Philippines 2020, the first virtual edition of Miss Earth Philippines will crown the winner virtually for the first time ever on 5th July 2020 which will telecast on GMA. The winner will represent the Philippines at Miss Earth 2020. Miss Earth Philippines 2019 Janelle Lazo Tee will be succeeded at the end of the event. The delegates from all over have started to prepare for the competition as the pageant conducted the preliminary competitions recently.
Miss Philippines Earth aims to give a strong emphasis on environmental awareness programs and the delegates actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and protection of Mother Earth.
Janelle shared that the pageant is going ahead with the virtual competition and not the standard way of conducting a competition because in this way the organization and the delegates can continue its service to the Filipino people and Mother Earth. “We believe, continuing our advocacy for the environment would contribute a lot to our wellbeing. Our advocacy for the environment is interconnected with everything, may it be for healthcare, our mental health, etc. which is very important most especially during this time of the pandemic. We’re making history as the first pageant to do it virtually. Yes, it is possible!” she said.
The organization recently conducted the pre-pageant activities virtually in which 33 delegates who are representing their respective provinces participated and performed exceptionally well via a zoom call. For the finale event that is to be conducted on 5th July 2020, the delegate will parade from their respective locations, interviews will be held just like the standard beauty pageant and the questions will be asked by the judges from their respective houses.
The reigning queen Janelle Tee won’t be physically crowning her successor at the end of the finale but she will have her final walk as Miss Philippines Earth 2019 and will deliver a special farewell message. The diva is expecting to pass her crown to a queen who has unrelenting can-do attitude. A queen who can fulfil the crown duties and responsibilities whole heartedly. She mentioned that the title has helped and changed her in terms of setting a legacy for both beauty and responsibility.
“I’ve collaborated with different organizations for various advocacies. My voice is amplified because of this platform given to me and I will always be beyond grateful for that,” Janelle said. She further added that the queen who will win the crown as Miss Philippines Earth 2020, should be willing to unlearn, relearn, adapt, be flexible and willing to do an all-round job as the queen for environment. The things include attending glamorous events, clean ups, tree planting, adapting to the ‘new normal’ lifestyle.
The diva stated that being able to represent the Philippines at Miss Earth 2019 stage was something she will always be proud of and can’t believe. She has carried that crown with pride and honour and pageant has been the most memorable part of her life. “I never imagined that I will ever be Miss Philippines Earth! It is truly a life changing experience. Nothing is truly impossible with God,” Janelle continued.
