Miss Earth Philippines organization, after two years of holding virtual competitions, is all set to host an on-site coronation for the 2022 edition. However, only 20 semi-finalists will be competing for the finals according to organizer Lorraine Schuck. The finale is slated for July 2022 in an out-of-town venue.

The organization had also announced the nation-wide search open and started the online screening of potential candidates on 1st March 2022. One of the names returning for the title this year is, Miss Philippines Earth 2020 runner-up Justiene Ortega.

28 years-old Justiene will be representing the city of Manila. She is a marketing graduate from San Bera University and is currently working as a brand manager. The diva wants to join Miss Philippines Earth again because she still wants to lead the fight against climate change.

“I see Miss Philippines Earth not just as a beauty pageant but as a collaboration of sustainability advocate and environmental champions coming together for unified goal of saving Mother Earth,” she shared.

This year, Ortega’s advocacy is renewable energy, but particularly focusing on solar energy. Justiene sees it as one of the key solutions and drivers that will help us have the biggest impact in fighting against climate change.

Not new to pageantry, she was the first runner-up at Miss Tourism Philippines 2017 and one of Miss World Philippines 2019's Top 5 in the Top Model Competition. Her achievements also include Lustre Awards 2019's SunSmart Fast Starter Awardee, One of MarkProf Foundation's Top Young Marketing Leaders, Graduated college with 9 Medals including Ten Outstanding Students of San Beda-CAS, Philippine Marketing Association's Academic Excellence Award, and National Youth Commission's Leadership Excelence Award and is an Academic Scholar and President of Bedan Scholars' Guild.

For the 22nd edition, #MissPhilippinesEarth takes on the theme “ME Loves Fauna” to emphasize the importance of caring for animal life. The theme also gives awareness of how animal life, whether wildlife or domestic, are essential members of the environment which must be given proper care and attention.

Puerto Prinsesa, Palawan is one of the venues being considered for the Miss PH Earth finals to be aired on A2Z. Theme for this year is ‘Me and Fauna’ which will be highlighting the protection of animals and their habitat. The reigning Miss Earth Philippines Naelah Alshorbaji who finished in the top 8 at Miss Earth 2021, will be crowning her successor at the end of the event.
