Miss Philippines Earth 2017 was held on 15th June 2017 and Karen Ibasco was crowned as Miss Philippines Earth 2017. At the same event, Nellza Mortola Bautista was crowned as Miss Philippines Fire 2017 and Jessica Marasigan was crowned as Miss Philippines Water 2017. Both of them are keenly working on fulfilling their duty to promote environmental projects and to address issues concerning the environment.
They are also serving as the spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other environmental organizations.
Recently, Jessica Marasigan and Nellza Mortola Bautista were seen taking part in Tree planting activity, held on 8th August at La Mesa Ecopark. There were several other people also who supported and did their bit in turning this campaign into a successful event.
The tree planting campaign is the act of selecting, planting and caring for a tree and it also sends a powerful message that you care about the environment. These acts are excellent ways to bring people together and focus on environmental issues. For these reasons, there are many other tree-planting initiatives. The Green Wave campaign also recognizes and supports these other excellent initiatives.
Miss Philippines Earth focuses on the theme, "Beauties for a Cause”. The competition includes swimsuit competition, long gown parade, talent competition, but more weight is given to the personality and also to ecological and environmental intelligence in the interview portion.
