24 years old Sharon-Rose Khumalo, Miss South Africa 2016 finalist is a Volunteer tutor and Co-Director at Team Matric, hailing from Pretoria, Gauteng. Sharon’s motive of joining the Miss South Africa 2016 pageant was to share her experience to the youth, what she has learned through her success and mistakes. “I believe I can inspire young men and women not to become victims of circumstance, but victors instead.”

Sharon’s inspiration for joining the Miss South Africa pageant were two former Miss South Africa winners, Miss SA 1996 Peggy Sue Khumalo and Miss SA 2014 Rolene Strauss. “Peggy Sue Khumalo inspires me because of the determination and tenacity it took to get to where she is today. I’m inspired by Rolene’s success and humility – a quality I admire.” She is deeply connected to her mom, who has been her strength throughout her journey. Talking about her parents, Sharon says, “My mother has shown me the strength of being a woman, an independent and responsible human being in society. My father has taught me how important a good character is. My parents have sacrificed so much to provide for my brother and me.”

Sharon loves gardening and in her spare time, she likes sitting in her small garden, enjoying the tranquillity and serenity of nature. In her spare time, Sharon likes spending time in the sun with her shades and gumboots on, and tilling the soil “enjoying the fruits of her labour”. She is also very fond of drawing, painting and making mosaic murals.
