Miss South Africa 2020, the 62nd edition of Miss South Africa, will host its annual edition virtually in the month of August where the next delegate to represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2020 will be crowned. South Africa’s performance at the international beauty pageants has been incredible as the divas have always proven their worth in the competition and with their remarkable performances, they have taken home multiple titles, especially in the recent years.
Rebuilt under ‘Face your power, embrace your future’, stunning beauties will compete for the crown and the opportunities to represent South Africa in Miss Universe 2020 and Miss World 2020. Just today, the Miss South Africa organization has announced that the three finalists who will be crowned at the end of the event finale will represent South Africa at international pageants including Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Supranational.
While the official delegates are yet to be announced, there are a few beauties who have shown immense potential to be a part of this year’s national pageant. Jessica Tovey has made it to our wish list along with being the official entrant to be a part of Miss South Africa 2020 with her stunning beauty and grace. She recently sent and uploaded her entry video for the pageant on her social media.
Jessica is 26-years-old and is currently working as a speech therapist and audiologist at a Public health sector in Johannesburg. She effortlessly switches from her hospital scrubs to high-fashion as she is passionate about beauty pageants.
Jessica decided to pursue her career as speech therapist and audiologist after an accident left her brother with both hearing loss and physical disabilities. “I wanted to do my part to change the perceptions towards those living with disabilities. As a speech therapist and audiologist, I interact with people living with disabilities every day and I see the way that not only they react to it but how those around them react to disability” she said.
In her entry video, Jessica explains that she wants to be a part of Miss South Africa 2020 pageant because she wants to focus on empower women and especially the one with disabilities. She strongly believes that every opportunity she has been able to grab onto has helped her to overcome her fears and make her strong and confident about herself rather than listening to what society thinks. She wants to create an environment and awareness program which would focus on the inequalities the women with disabilities are facing and help them overcome them or at least motivate them to fight back. She would also like to create an environment which would help the women with disabilities and general women grow by creating more opportunities for them. She wants to create a positive example for them after which she believes that the women would start embracing themselves and accept as they are.
Jessica is not new to the pageantry world as she was the part of Miss South Africa 2017 and was one of the semi-finalists at the competition where she was appreciated for her strong delegation and performance. Jessica believes that progressing through the stages and becoming Miss South Africa is not a means to an end but rather a journey to continuous positive change. She mentioned that being in the force is about being strong and assertive but being a doctor is about being kind, compassionate and caring, and when one puts all these things together that is Miss South Africa for her.
Jessica is very grateful for everything she has achieved till now and usually let her fans and followers know about her journey too. She writes, “We sometimes so hard on ourselves constantly telling ourselves we not doing enough, we not being enough, we not enough! Some of my growth has been to remind myself that I am enough! Just me in all God made me!” She has worked with various designers, brands, and photographers in South Africa which has helped her to work on her skills and abilities to be a better beauty queen in future. She likes to challenge herself because she believes that a good challenge helps her to work harder and she is more focused.
Jessica is very close to her family and friends and has a pet dog who she adores and likes to spend time with them. She describes herself as a foodie and explains that she loves to explore new restaurants and cafes in the town just to explore the variety of food. She posts a lot about self-love on her social media account. Her mind is focused and she tries to make the society better for human beings as well as nature too which makes her one of the strongest delegates at Miss South Africa 2020 stage if she gets selected. She is working on her on-stage walk, body postures and angles and most importantly on her interview skills which is very essential part of any beauty pageants. She is confident, beautiful, and very determined to get selected to compete at Miss South Africa 2020 and be able to win a chance to represent South Africa at international beauty pageants.
