Know more about Miss South Africa 2023 Top 7 Finalists

Miss South Africa organization decided to host the 2023 edition as a reality show where thirty delegates began their journey. From Top 30 semi-finalists, only 12 moved forward as the episodes were programmed and now only seven remain to vie for the national crown.

The finale is scheduled to be held on 13th August 2023 at SunBet Arena, Time Square, Pretoria as the winner will go on to represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2023 and/or Miss Supranational 2024.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Top 7 finalists of Miss South Africa 2023 –

Natasha Joubert

Natasha Joubert, representing the Gauteng Province, has made it to Top 7. She is a BCom Marketing Management graduate and is the owner and fashion designer of Natalia Jefferys which she founded when she was 19 years old.

Not new to the pageantry, Natasha competed in Miss Globe 2016 where she represented her country with absolute sincerity and dedication. With her exemplary performance, Natasha was adjudged the fourth runner-up at the end of the event finale. On 10th December 2020, Miss SA appointed Natasha Joubert as Miss Universe South Africa 2020 to represent the country at Miss Universe 2020 but failed to place in the Top 21.

 

 

Homba Mazaleni

Homba Mazaleni is 23 years of age and hails from Gonubie, East London in the Eastern Cape. She is a qualified sport scientist and student intern at the University of the Western Cape. Homba pursued Biokinetics to help people recover from injuries and sickness, and it gives her great satisfaction to help them gain the tools they need to pursue their own goals and passions. She wants to use her voice to help actively transform the landscape of what people have deemed to be equal accessibility to health and wellness. Breaking boundaries, Homba has surely shown tremendous potential to be strong contender for the national crown.

 

 

Jordan van der Vyver

Jordan van der Vyver, representing Western Cape, is a model and a businesswoman. Jordan recently embarked on an entrepreneurial journey as the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of an online pioneering platform. She aims to provide aspiring individuals with invaluable insights, expert advice and comprehensive resources. Her prime concern is cultivating an inclusive society.

Jordan’s role model is the late Audrey Hepburn and it was because of meeting Jo-Ann Strauss that she felt passionate about joining Miss South Africa. She is passionate about not only being a beauty queen but also for bringing in the change in the society. She is very thankful for all the opportunities she has received and with every opportunity she believes she has learnt something which will help her in the competition. This is also not her first stint at Miss South Africa and thus the experience will also help her in becoming a front-runner for the competition.

 

 

Bryoni Natalie Govender

Bryoni Natalie Govender is 26 years of age and hails from Kempton Park in Gauteng. Bryoni is a qualified lawyer who is working as a trainee associate, whilst awaiting admission to become an attorney. Bryoni is not new in the world of pageantry. Previously, she participated in Miss South Africa in the year 2018 and managed to take place in the list of top 12 finalists.

Bryoni believes that the crown and the Miss South Africa platform can help achieve her long-term goals as she wants to educate people about their rights and equality standards. Also, she wants people to know about their duties as a citizen and as a human. Her main aim is to take this idea on a global level and that's why she aims to win the Miss Universe title after Miss South Africa.

 

 

Melissa Nayimuli

Melissa Nayimuli hails from Butterworth in the Eastern Cape and now lives in Sunninghill, Joburg where she works as an account manager for a marketing agency. She has a BA in Motion Picture Medium from AFDA and has majored in television writing. Melissa was born into a multicultural home with a Xhosa mother and a Ugandan father. She wishes to start conversations that are aimed at repairing the damage caused by xenophobia, not only in South Africa but all over the African continent because it is not only a South Africa problem, it is not only an Africa problem, it is a global issue.

Her role models are Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, because she is not afraid to speak the truth no matter the cost and Ava DuVerney whose commitment to writing stories that challenge the way one sees the world and thinks is inspiring. Melissa wishes to spread awareness and stop the high rate of gender-based violence in South Africa.

 

 

Anke Rothmann

Anke Rothmann is 23 years of age and representing Northern Cape. Anke is a pharmacist intern who obtained her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the North West University in Potchefstroom. Anke aspires to be someone who can help others redefine what is important and meaningful in life. She wishes to inspire them to attach worth to more than just what is external.

 

 

Nande Mbala

Nande Mabala, representing the province of the Western Cape, is a model, micro-influencer, philanthropist and a triple major BA Arts graduate. The 25-year-old stunning beauty believes her courage, tenacity and drive have moulded her into the woman she is today. She values having pride in her story and where she comes from because it is what helps build community with people from all walks of life.

Not new to the pageantry, she had previously entered the Miss Mamelodi Sundowns pageant and was one of the princesses in the Western Cape leg of Miss South Africa. Mabala has a BA degree in industrial psychology, political science and sociology from the University of the Western Cape. She currently is a freelance marketing assistant and model.

Mabala is also the co-founder of the Uyathandwa Foundation, a non-profit organisation established in 2021, which aims at empowering and advocating for all previously disadvantaged groups in South Africa. The organization focuses on impacting lives through outreach programmes, giving food hampers and advocating for the safety of women and girls.
