Miss South Africa 2017 Ade van Heerden is redefining the traditional method of spreading social awareness through ‘Pitch Up in Pink’ campaign. Compiling with the South African cricket team and fashion icon, David Tlale, she is all set to raise breast cancer awareness through Pink Day 2018 on 10th February 2018.

The official ambassador of ‘Pitch up in Pink’, Ade also attended the launch of official Pink Day 2018 where she was also joined by the big names of South African cricket team like David Miller among others,  who wore pink jerseys and walked the ramp for this noble cause.

On 10th February 2018, the 4th ODI between India and South Africa will be held at Bidvest Wanderers where the players will be again adorning pink jerseys. This is the 8th Pink Day in South Africa and the funds will go towards the Breast Cancer Unit at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg, the official beneficiary of Pink Day 2018.

Ade herself is studying for a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery; she is currently a Lieutenant and is working as a Medical Doctor in the South African National Defence Force. She would eventually like to specialise in Emergency and Nutritional Medicine and she deeply associates with such health causes and likes to spread awareness about the same.
