Miss Sri Lanka Earth 2017 grand finale was held at Citrus Waskaduwa, a resort nearby the city of Colombo, on August 13' 2017. It was a fabulous event with the presence of various eminent personalities and nine glamorous beauties competing for the dazzling crown. The grand finale was glorified with the presence of Stephanie de Zorzi from Venezuela who is the reigning Miss Earth - Water.
At the conclusion of the event, Shyama Dahanayaka was crowned as Miss Sri Lanka Earth 2017, and will now go on to compete in Miss Earth 2017 pageant to be held on November 4' 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. She was crowned by her predecessor Dimanthi Edirirathna, Miss Earth Sri Lanka 2016.
At the same event, Dilukshi Weeraperuma was named the first-runner up and Chalani Shehani bagged the second runner-up position. Remaining finalists were Uthpala Kumanayake, Rushmi Heenpelle, Prisca Nirmalee, Shavini Perera, Shenya Navaratne, and Ola Jefni.
Sri Lanka associated itself with the prominent Miss Earth contest in 2011. So far no beauty from Sri Lanka has been able to place amongst the finalists in Miss Earth pageant.
Now we just have to wait and watch whether the new Miss Earth Sri Lanka - Shyama Dahanayaka - can make her country proud by winning the title of the Miss Earth 2017.
