Janet is not new to the pageantry as represented Callao in the Miss Peru of 2018 and was in the top five and that led her to the international pageant Top Model of the World 2018 where she was crowned as the new queen. She has started modelling at the age of 13 when her mother drove her to audition for Miss Teen Model 2011 and she won. Since then, Janet has been a part of fashion and modelling industry and paraded for international designers. She aspired to become one of the Victoria’s Secret Angel and have her own clothing brand.

Janet’s father; Daniel Leyva is a singer, songwriter and a musician and along with her brothers, Janet likes to sing and dance. She is very close to her family as they have always supported to her follow her dreams even when she didn’t feel like. In her teenage years, Janet was always insecure about her looks and faced a lot of body issues. She faced issues because she was tall and skinny.  These insecurities eventually lead to low self-esteem and low self- confidence.

Janet overcame her insecurities when she decided to participate in Miss Teen Model where she was appreciated and received a lot of compliments for her height and walk. She felt alive, confident and self-assured on stage. She was happy to be there and started to notice the changes that came along with her newly discovered passion for modelling. Janet explains that modelling taught her to love herself and she will always be thankful to the stage where she found herself.

Janet was travelling when she was called to represent Peru at Miss Model of the World 2018. She was training and preparing for the competition in China with other delegates. She explains that living outside your country makes you more independent, it teaches you to believe more in yourself, to risk and lose fear.

Janet has a healthy lifestyle; she eats healthy food and go to the gym. She expresses, “I am thin and have long limbs, it is my build.” She further mentioned that, in this world society will always criticize you for being plus size or for being thin. People have been sold the idea of ??a standard. They tell you: beauty is like this; this is the perfect body. However, there is no one type of beauty or one perfect body, we are all different and if you are healthy, your body will be the ideal body.

The diva shatters all the stereotypes about beauty pageants and explains that pageants are not limited to your body measurements anymore. The judges and the organization judge you for who you are, for the message you want to convey and for what you seek to achieve. International beauty pageants favour the empowerment of women and that their voice is heard, allows you to reach people. Beauty has to do with energy and the ability to make a connection with the other.
