Mariana is described as a determined, positive and motivated person who likes to take up challenges, learn new things and traveling the world, for knowing new people. She is passionate, adventurous and love learning new languages. Mariana has always been an active member in her community doing things for the community or for personal development. She is the Ambassador of a foundation named the University of Laif, that raises awareness about the United Nations.

During her stint at Miss Tourism Worldwide 2019, she was asked a question from the judging panel,

“A kid learns every day from their mothers, but what can a mother learn from their kids?” To which Mariana answered, “It’s funny how the mind of the kids is “not” completely developed yet that age they are not afraid to fall and get back up. To “fail” in something and just get back up and learn from it. Not only mothers but people in general, we should take this, and learn from it. We should learn from our error and not be afraid to try new things or to fail or be afraid to be curious about life instead. Instead of stressing or focusing on the past and the future and just be happy and grateful with life and what we have and are experienced now. Appreciate life, appreciate the people we have around us.” With her strong and well-versed answer, she was applauded by the judges and hence was declared as the winner.

Mariana; after winning posted on her social media account that she has decided to dedicate my song to her cousin that passed away (diabetes) on the second day of the competition and her lovely aunt that died a few years ago from breast cancer. By this, the diva wanted to give a message to everyone that life can pass you by just like that and you wouldn’t even notice it until it might be too late.

Mariana’s win was marked in the history because it was the first time that Curacao won an international pageant competition. She mentioned that she felt grateful for everyone that believed and supported her from the beginning. From her family to sponsors and the National director Annick Eycken. She also thanked the beautiful queens and friends that were part of the competition as well.

She mentioned that she will devote herself to cultural understanding and representing the beautiful island, around the world. She believes that everyone should step up and help in empowering as well as encouraging woman, kids, and people, in general, to believe in themselves. And that your dreams can really become true if don’t quite and work hard for it. In one of her posts, she has mentioned that confidence for her is not walking in a room full of people and thinking that you are superior but it is about believing and being completely oneself.
