Martrecia Cherisse Alleyne is the new Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe

With 2018 barely commencing, countries have gone into full swing to choose their representatives for the big international pageants in the year 2018. One such pageant, that recently announced its new reigning queen, is Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe 2018. On February 3, 2018, Yvonne Clarke crowned her successor to the title of Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe 2018.

Martrecia Cherisse Alleyne was crowned as Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago 2018 on February 3, 2018, and will now represent the country at Miss Universe 2018 wherein Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa will crown her successor as next Miss Universe.

Alleyne came close to the crown in 2017, when she placed as the runner up to Yvonne Clarke. The year saw Yvonne getting disqualified after crowning, but, Alleyne could not be appointed to take her place as Clarke got reappointed soon after that.

Martrecia Alleyne is a returning National Scholar and former Valedictorian for the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. Alleyne was born and raised in St. Augustine, but comes from a family of blended nationalities: her parents are Barbadian and her three siblings were all born in England.

Alleyne, whose dream of becoming Miss Trinidad And Tobago started when she saw Arlene Peterkin on stage at the tender age of five, loves writing, photography, fashion and visual design plans to combine her business acumen and current career in showroom design (Visual Merchandising) to create a residential and retail design company. Martrecia would like to use her platform to bring greater awareness to a cause close to the heart: Alzheimer’s research and assist by forming support groups for those affected by the disease. She also plans to promote adoption as an option in Trinidad and Tobago.

Miss Universe Trinidad & Tobago is a beauty pageant has been held annually since 1963 a year after its independence from the United Kingdom. The contest is meant to select a suitable delegate from both islands to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. The pageant is unrelated to Miss World Trinidad and Tobago pageant.
