Deshauna who was recently crowned Miss USA 2016 has already started her media tour and is attending various media interviews. During one such interview to the leading Fashion Magazine Cosmopolitan, Deshauna shared about her journey, the feeling of being crowned as Miss USA, how it all started, and also how the question asked to Miss Hawaii was unfair. "As titleholders, we are expected to be able to answer current events questions," Barber said. "I didn't understand why people thought that it was a hard question being that she made it seem so easy when she responded. All the titleholders received current events questions and they all did a great job at answering them.", said Deshauna.

The newly crowned Miss USA also expressed what would have been her answer if the same question was asked to her. The question was - "If the elections were held tomorrow, would you vote Hillary Clinton, or Donald Trump for president, and why would you choose one over the other?"

Barber said, "I'm unsure who I plan to vote for. My platform that I've been pushing in Washington, D.C., has been taking care of our veterans, PTSD care for our service members, and bringing our troops home. And I have not heard either candidate discuss our veterans and what they plan on doing about this backlog at the VA. So until I hear their plan of action for that, if they were privileged enough to be elected president, I'm just gonna say that I'm undecided at this point."

Deshauna Barber who was calm and serene all throughout the pageant, managed to stay chill until the last moment. She started to lose her cool when she was waiting with Chelsea Hardin for the winner to be announced. She was thinking about her old coach, Leslie Morton, who died a few years ago and missed seeing Deshauna reach this moment. "What if she never said anything to me? What if she walked down a different aisle in Target? If it wasn't for her, I would not be where I am right now. I was praying to her, I was crying for her, I was just doing all those things on stage, not only for the hurdles and the  journey that I have taken to be here, but because I knew that there was somebody that believed in me when I was 19. I knew she was there. She was definitely watching over me in that moment"
