Catriona Gray pays tribute to Cheslie Kryst among various others

The beauty pageant industry and fans were brought to shock with the tragic news of former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst’s untimely and unfortunate demise. The 30-year-old leaped to her death from her high-rise condominium building in Midtown on Sunday morning. The New York Police Department confirmed it to be a death by suicide soon after.

Cheslie Kryst was an American television presenter, model, and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss USA 2019. As Miss USA, she represented the United States at the Miss Universe 2019 competition and finished in the top ten. Outside of pageantry, Kryst was a licensed attorney and had served as a correspondent for Extra from October 2019.

 

 

Hundreds of lives have been affected by this heart shattering demise of a beauty queen that left us too early. Tributes have since begun pouring in for Cheslie as her fans, supporters, contemporaries mourn her loss.

“Ches...I can't believe the news. Rest in peace angel. The world will miss your light. Also, let's reach out to friends and loved ones. These continue to be isolating times, mental health is so important, let's not downplay its importance in the lives of every individual,” said Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.

The Miss USA organization also took to their social handle to mourn the loss as they wrote, “The Miss Universe and Miss USA Organizations are devastated to learn about the loss of Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst. She was one of the brightest, warmest, and most kind people we have ever had the privilege of knowing, and she lit up every room she entered. Our entire community mourns her loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.”

“The Miss Diva family is deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Cheslie Kryst, Miss USA 2019. Cheslie will be forever remembered as a woman of substance who had a zeal for life and the ability to light up the room with her presence. She may not be here with us today but her legacy continues, a legacy of love, strength and service to others. Fly high, Cheslie,” shared the Miss Diva organization.

“I am still in shock. Cheslie’s light was so bright, and she made an impact on so many lives. It felt amazing to look up in 2019 and see that I wasn’t alone on my journey to represent us in this sphere. We are strong, beautiful, fierce, talented, capable and worthy. She is and was proof enough. Her legacy lives on in all of us. Rest well Queen,” mourned reigning Miss World Toni Ann Singh.
