The 71st edition of the Miss Universe pageant, i.e., Miss Universe 2022 is scheduled to be held later this year where delegates from all over the world will compete for the coveted crown. At the end of the event, the reigning Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu of India will crown her successor.
While the finale details are yet to be announced, the Miss Universe organization has officially sent out an e-mail to national directors all over the world to elect their representatives for the 71st Miss Universe competition by 12th September 2022.
This development can definitely mean that the international competition could be held around the months of October or November rather than December like last year. As of now four delegates have been confirmed to compete at Miss Universe 2022. Andreína Martínez, Engracia Mofuman, Aidana Akhantaeva and Amanda Dudamel have been selected to represent Dominican Republic, Ghana, Kazakhstan and Venezuela respectively.
Other than these, Australia, Great Britain, Jamaica, Canada, Greece, Armenia, Panama, Sweden, Iceland, Albania, Kosovo, El Salvador, Philippines are few of the countries who have opened their registrations to select the 2022 representative.
Malaysia has stated that it will return to Miss Universe after a one-year hiatus, while Bangladesh aims to resume pageantry after a two-year hiatus. Indonesia will also return after a one-year absence due to the country's failure to send a delegate to Israel, which hosted Miss Universe 2020.
If the rumours are to be believed, the 71st edition of Miss Universe will be held in La Ville–Lumière, France. France appears to be a great contender to host the upcoming Miss Universe competition, given its natural beauty and amazing culture.
Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu is currently in New York City, involved in media interactions and carrying out her reigning responsibilities. She has been discussing her journey and her advocacy as Miss Universe and is residing in the official Miss Universe apartment.
