Deshauna Barber, the crown queen of Miss USA, has been asked to officially name a new 133,500-ton ship, Carnival Vista during a shipboard ceremony. The event is a part of an overnight gala in honour of Operation Homefront. The gala will include exclusive performance by Carrie Underwood, a renowned super star who has won seven Grammy awards for his country music.

Deshauna works as a logistics commander for the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Unit in Rockville, Maryland, USA. Inspired by her father, a retired Special Forces army sergeant, Barber had joined the Army Reserve in 2011. She has a bachelor’s degree in business management from the Virginia State University and has pursued masters in computer information systems at the University of Maryland University College.
Carnival Cruise Line finds it a privilege to have the dedicated and determined Miss USA serve as the godmother of their largest new ship. Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, views Deshauna as the right candidate for Carnival Vista's godmother as she is an embodiment of commitment to her country and to those who are ready to sacrifice in order to protect it.
The gala and concert are a part of the year-long carnival organised to raise funds for the Operation Homefront mission by the US military. It will be a way to support active as well as retired Army personnel and their families.

Deshauna is very excited to be a part of the official ceremony. She wants to check out the unique features of the ship. The passionate US military advocate champions for gender equality and now, wants to focus her efforts on PTSD treatments for Armed Forces personnel.
