National pride reached epic proportions as Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach met Filipino boxing fame Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center.

Boxing Champ Pacquiao and Wurtzbach crossed path at the Food Exchange Manila along with Binibining Pilipinas Charities Chairwoman Stella Marquez-Araneta, Novotel Manila Araneta Center General Manager Bernd Schneider and Uniprom International Officer-in-Charge Irene Jose.

Pacquiao just returned from his win over Timothy Bradley for the WBO International Welterweight title last weekend, while reigning Miss Universe Pia is scheduled to crown her successor to the Binibining Pilipinas – slated to be held on April 17’ at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Philippines.

At the short meeting, the boxing fame Pacquiao gave Pia Wurtzbach a pair of “Miss Universe pink” boxing gloves as a souvenir.  

During the press conference, Pia Wurtzbach recollected her moments from the pageant and she even shared that she tweeted about Pacquiao’s loss against Mayweather in May 2015 and unintentionally predicted her own Miss Universe win.

The beauty queen stated as saying (in Phil language) - "'Di po ako nagbibiro, nung nag-tweet ako na emotional ako, nung nag-tweet ako na, 'Kalma lang guys, babawi naman tayo sa Miss Universe' nung pagkatalo niya against Mayweather."

Translated - (I'm not joking, when I tweeted I was emotional, when I tweeted 'Calm down guys, we're going to make up for it in Miss Universe,' when he lost against Mayweather.)

Pia also stated that she even told boxing champion about the tweet when she met him.

"Sabi ko sa kanya, 'Congratulations on your victory, we're very proud of you. Hindi ko alam kung alam mo ito, pero nag-tweet ako noon na sabi ko, 'Babawi ako sa Miss Universe' para sa iyo, kasi sobrang fan talaga ako.' I'm a big fan of Manny Pacquiao as a boxer... Sabi niya, 'Oo, alam ko.'"

Translated - (I told him, 'Congratulations on your victory, we're very proud of you. I don't know if you know this, but I tweeted before, saying 'I'll make up for it in Miss Universe' for you, because I'm such a big fan.' I'm a big fan of Manny Pacquiao as a boxer. He replied, 'Yes, I know.')

After the pleasant meeting, Pia Wurtzbach headed upstairs to get ready for the press conference.
