The Preliminary Competition of Miss Universe 2016 concluded last night with 86 gorgeous girls dazzling in their respective swimsuit and evening gowns. After finishing up with the swimsuit and the evening gown competition, the contestants stunned the audiences with their respective National Costumes. Although the National Costume competition is the most anticipated of all the events, it will have no bearing on the final score.
The girls dazzled in the colourful costumes as they showed off their culture and heritage in the form of National Costumes to the audiences. But one costume that everyone had been waiting for was that of Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina’s. Designed by Rhett Eala, Maxine’s gleaming national costume won the audiences’ heart. What’s also interesting is to note that Rhett, revealing details about the costume, said that its headdress and earrings cost more than P1 million, because of its South Sea pearls from Jewelmer.
All the costumes were culturally accurate and most of them looked extremely comfortable. However, we would have to give it to the Asian beauties for showcasing few amazingly gorgeous national costumes. Be it Miss Vietnam, Miss Philippines, Miss Thailand, Miss Myanmar, Miss Indonesia, Miss India etc, al l these beautiful ladies shined bright during the National Costume 2016 competition.
